David Loke Kai Yuan is an active performer and composer based in Singapore, where he is Artist Faculty at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.
David completed his Bachelor’s of Music at YST NUS in his hometown of Singapore where he majored in Classical Violin Performance. He then went on to the Yale School of Music in the USA to obtain a Master’s Degree in Music and upon completion, he went on to the New England Conservatory of Music to study Jazz Performance.
As a performer, David most often performs the classic repertoire as well as the normal jazz standards. He is frequently called as a chamber player and session musician.
Most recently, David composed the soundtrack for the movie “Strings of Sorrow” which premiered at the 2019 4th International Film Festival and Awards - Macau, as well as composing the soundtrack to the local documentary “3 Cents a Kilo”. His current commission is writing a work for the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.
David is currently an active member of the musical group - the Lorong Boys. He plays on a 1933 Giovanni Pistucci on generous loan from the Rin Collection.
David has had the good fortune of studying with Sylvia Khoo, Lynette Lim, Qian Zhou, Ani Kavafian, Brian Levy, Jerry Bergonzi, Frank Carlburg, Can Olgun, and Tony Makarome.
He currently works for the Music and Drama Company, under So!Drama Entertainment.
