Hui Qi graduated under the National Arts Council’s Georgette Chen Arts Scholarship from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) as a Violist. During then, she also served as the principle violist under the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Orchestra.
Being a versatile musician, she performs and teaches both the Violin and the Viola.
She began pursuing her music at the tender age of 4 studying the Violin under the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). At the age of 12, she began learning the Viola under the tutelage of Guan Qi. Since then, she has been under the tutelage of other reputable violists such as Lionel Tan and Tan Wee-Hsin.
As a performing musician, she has performed for and been a member of various reputable orchestras such as the Singapore National Youth Orchestra, The Philharmonic Orchestra, the Singapore Lyric Opera and many more. She also plays an active role on both the Violin and the Viola as a chamber musician and as a soloist for many occasions.
Some of the reputable performances she has performed in include world renowned operas such as Turandot, Bolshoi Ballet's Swan Lake etc, and for concerts of well-known artistes such as Jeff Chang 张信哲, George Lam 林子祥, Francis Yip 叶丽仪, and more. She has also been involved in the well-known Suria concert series where she performed with award winning artistes such as Anita Sarawak.
In 2013, she performed as a solo violinist alongside JJ Lin 林俊杰 during his concert world tour.
She has also performed as a resident musician on both instruments in hotels and lounges such as the Marina Bay Sands. She was also invited to perform for prominent events such as the F1 Race and many more.
Besides performing, she also has a wealth of experience in teaching both instruments, where she teaches extensively to students ranging from a young age of 4 till the age of 70. For this, she has produced many students with grades of distinctions in their exams.
